Nissan is introducing the third generation of its e-POWER hybrid system in the all-new 2027 Rogue Hybrid — the automaker's first hybrid of its kind sold in the United States. Unlike a conventional hybrid, e-POWER uses a gasoline engine purely as a generator; the wheels are driven entirely by electric motors, which Nissan says delivers instant power off the line and a noticeably different feel than a typical hybrid SUV.
A Hybrid That Never Needs to Be Plugged In
Because e-POWER uses a conventional gas engine strictly to generate electricity rather than to turn the wheels, the Rogue Hybrid never needs to be charged — there's no plug, no charging cable, and no changes to how you already fuel up.
No Plug, Ever
The gas engine runs the generator that powers the electric motors, so refueling works exactly like any other gas vehicle.

2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid FAQs
Unlike conventional hybrids that can use the gasoline engine to drive the wheels, Rogue Hybrid uses Nissan's e-POWER system to drive the wheels exclusively with electric motors. The gasoline engine generates electricity rather than connecting directly to the wheels, creating an electric-drive experience designed to deliver smooth and quiet acceleration.
The 2027 Rogue Hybrid SR AWD with the SR Technology Package is scheduled to arrive at dealerships in fall 2026. The SV, SR and Platinum grades are expected to become available in early 2027.
Nissan estimates the 2027 Rogue Hybrid can achieve up to 40 mpg in city driving, 36 mpg on the highway and 38 mpg combined. These figures are based on Nissan's internal testing.
The 2027 Rogue Hybrid includes several family-focused features. Its rear doors open nearly 90 degrees to make loading children and installing car seats easier. The SUV also offers five LATCH anchors in the rear seating area, including a center-position option that can provide additional flexibility when installing child safety seats.
Every 2027 Rogue Hybrid includes a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay® and wireless Android Auto™. An available 14.3-inch display adds Google built-in features, including Google Maps, the Play Store and Google Gemini.
Nissan has developed and refined e-POWER through three generations of the technology. According to Nissan, nearly 2 million e-POWER-equipped vehicles have been sold globally across 68 countries since its introduction in 2016. For the North American Rogue Hybrid, the system has been specifically tuned for local driving preferences and conditions.
The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid starts at $35,490 for the SV grade. Nissan's listed starting price does not include the $1,575 destination and handling charge.
